5 Tips That Will Serve YOU and Your Business
❤️ Start thinking of your calendar as your own personal assistant! It is an awesome tool when set up right. Use it to support your business AND your lifestyle. Here’s 5 tips that will serve YOU and your business.
Tip 1: Think in Quarters: What are your goals for the next 3 months? Break them down into bite-sized actionable steps. Create measurable results that are based in time. Add each of these steps to your calendar on the dates you’ve created. See how they impact the other meetings and items previously there. Ask yourself - What is the highest priority? What do I need to push or reschedule?
Tip 2: Think Holistically: In addition to your business goals, include your own personal needs. Ask yourself - What are my non-negotiables? For example: Date night with my partner. Hydrate:Drink Water. Time to stretch. Take a Bath. Set up these tasks to repeat. *Note: If you don’t know what your non-negotiables are, then take 15 minutes to make a list of the things that bring you joy and reflect self-care.
Tip 3: Go Deep instead of Going Wide & Understand your Momentum: Now that you have your business goals and your personal non-negotiables, organize them into blocks you can get to throughout the week. Ask yourself- Do I want to do X at this time? Set these blocks to repeat with multiple alerts. Reflect on your natural momentum. Are you a morning person? Are you creative in the afternoon? Do you like to have meetings at a certain time of day? Commit to this schedule for 1 week. Try them on. Actively review how you feel during these times of day. Reflect and make note of what you actually do. What do you want to push? What are your energy levels? Adjust ONLY after the week is complete then repeat for the following week. Relate to you calendar as your personal assistant. It is there to remind you, nudge you, to get you out of your head, and to take breaks.
Tip 4: Don’t Rearrange Things Willy-Nilly: Commit and stick to the calendar you’ve set up for yourself. If you are determined and mindful of what you’ve committed to, you will be able to see what is and isn’t realistic. It will help you to prioritize and recognize where you are spreading yourself too thin, and to see if you’re not getting to things at all. Ask yourself - Why do I want to move this? What is holding me back? How am I relating to these tasks? Is this assistant supportive enough?
Tip 5: Have a Sounding Board: Share what you are up to with a friend, partner, or colleague. Share what you are committing too and what’s new about it. Ask them to hold you accountable. You do not want to do this in your head - it simply won’t work and you won’t be as effective or efficient. Share with them - what is and isn’t working? What is holding you back? If you do this for at least a month you will achieve the results you want and have a new type of personal assistant that doesn’t cost a dime. If you want support from a productivity coach start here.
